UCB鈥檚 food and bakery students may have won big at the NEC Hospitality Show, but it was the Hospitality students who were really running the show.聽
Eight BTEC Level 3 Hospitality students were appointed as Showmakers 鈥� specially-trained ambassadors for the three-day event who were hosts, guides and attraction advisors all rolled into one.聽
鈥淏efore the event we were recruited and trained by Lisa Campagnola,鈥� said Luke Clarke, one of the Showmakers. 鈥淪he was the lady behind the training programme for the London Games Makers during the Olympics back in 2012.鈥澛�
It was the Showmakers鈥� responsibility to greet guests at the entrance and provide them with show guides. They were also on hand to help chefs and exhibitors, and provide information on the main attractions, such as the HOSPACE Hub and the Staff Canteen Live.聽
鈥淭he Hospitality Show was a real success,鈥� said Laura Jones, another Showmaker. 鈥淚 had the opportunity to speak to lots of people who, due to the positive response they received at this event, are now registering for a stand at other events later this year.鈥澛�
鈥淚t was a job that kept us very busy, but it was a great experience,鈥� agreed Katherine Greenhalgh. 鈥淎t the end of the three days, we were personally thanked by the organisers of the show and presented with a framed certificate.鈥澛�
