FdA Professional Cookery聽student Elliot Lawn has been named a finalist of the British Culinary Federation Young Chef of the Year competition.
Sixteen young chefs have landed a sought-after place at the final, which takes place on 6 November at 爆料王. Elliot joins a staggering line-up of competitors from prestigious restaurants all over the UK, boasting nine Michelin stars between them.
Celebrating their 20th聽anniversary this year, the awards are a chance for rising talent in the industry to gain national recognition. Elliot will have two hours to produce a three-course meal showcasing the best of British produce, with one dish that must include fish or shellfish. The menu has been designed independently by Elliot with a little guidance from chef lecturer Mathew Shropshall. 聽
鈥淚t鈥檚 been an honour to support Elliot in a competition that brings together the best young chefs in the UK,鈥 said Mat, who is also mentoring the student on this year鈥檚 junior team for the Culinary World Cup.

Elliot said he was 鈥渟hocked and surprised鈥 to have made it to the final, but more than confident about the quality of his menu.
鈥淲e鈥檒l have to see what happens on the day,鈥 he added, 鈥渂ut from the work I鈥檝e put in so far, I feel ready to perform the best I possibly can.鈥
