Four UCB students got an insider鈥檚 guide to a career in the hospitality and tourism industry thanks to Hampton by Hilton Birmingham City North.
They got a behind-the-scenes look at the hotel, located in the Jewellery Quarter, during a careers event.
The students 鈥 Flavia Maxim, Sinead David, Saima Kiren and Andra Papa 鈥 met managers and had a mock job interview with the general manager. They also worked in the front office, HR, finance and housekeeping to gain valuable hospitality experience.聽
The activity supported Hilton Worldwide鈥檚 global corporate responsibility strategy, Travel with Purpose, and the company鈥檚 aim to positively affect the lives of at least one million young people across the world by 2019.
Neil Parks, hotel manager, Hampton by Hilton Birmingham City North, said: 鈥淎 careers event for students is close to my heart because I鈥檝e seen many people go from university students to full-time team members, working their way up to management positions within the Hampton by Hilton brand.
鈥淲e were delighted to offer first-hand taster sessions for the students to practice their interview skills, learn about the Hampton by Hilton culture of service, the importance of the brand鈥檚 100% Satisfaction Guarantee and gain experience of what a typical working day in a hotel is really like.聽
鈥淭he day was a huge success. We really enjoyed working with the students and we hope they take advantage of the knowledge and experience we shared with them.
鈥淲e are now planning to do another event later on in the year to offer more students the opportunity to gain hospitality experience.鈥
